4P1 (Acquired April 13,1973)
This Artillery Base was established by the 1s Marine Division in 1953. In more recent years it has provided direct support (105MM) for the DMZ patrols and border defense. The guns had surveyed fire targets to insure the guns would fire on their targets. To insure the guns would fire on their targets they were turned southward for practice fire onto a firing range near the Imjin. 4P1 is located near Camp Greaves. The ROK Army now operates this fire base.
4P1 was a U.S. rotational camp with Artillery units serving every two weeks to support the DMZ patrols and the guard posts in he DMZ. 4P1 Quonset Hut living quarters and dining hall but the showers was a GP large tent, and the latrines were temporary. While it was the las active Fire Base in the U.S. Army. In 1978 barracks were constructed.
