A Company 1st, 9th Infantry, 2ne Infantry Division 1984-1985 at the site where Operation Paul Bunyan occurred in 1976, at the Joint Security Area. This is the actual site where 2 U.S. Army Officers were killed by North Korean Troops after U.S. Troops started to cut down this tree. Operation Paul Bunyan was the response to the gruesome murders of the American Officers. The tree was cut down, but the trunk was left as a testament to the axe murders. |
