Brigadier General Joshua Sill for when Fort Sill, Oklahoma is named by camp Sill as also recalled in Artillery Valley Korea. General Sill was an 1853 graduate of West Point and then an Artillery Leader. He was killed in action in the battle of Stone River, Tennessee on December 3rd, 1862

Camp Sitman (formerly L-1) (Western Corridor DMZ, ACTA)
Sergeant First Class William Sitman received posthumously the Medal of Honor for heroism in the Korean War. Sitman a member of Company M, 23rd Infantry Regiment, fought in the tough battle at Chipyong-Ni. On February 14th, 1951 an enemy grenade landed in his machine gun position.
To save the other five crewmen he jumped on the grenade. Camp Sitman was nicknamed "Tent City" as troops here lived in 44 tents on a one acre of land near the DMZ. There was about a 200men Mess Hall, Administrative tents, and Officers tents. Camp Sitman was the a Combat Advanced Training Center to prepare the 2nd Infantry Division soldiers for DMZ duties. Construction of the new academy was launched on November 20th, 1965 and the facility opened on December 1st, 1965 with formal dedications on March 25th, 1966.
